AN EARLY ISLAMIC MOLD-BLOWN GLASS BOTTLE

c. 8th-10th Century A.D.

Made entirely from an opaque black glass this vessel consists of an ovoid body with vertical ribs, a cylindrical neck and a flaring rim. Trailing has been applied in a waving pattern around the joint between the body and the neck.

In excellent and original condition with natural iridescence present.

Similar examples can be found at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles as well as The Israel Museum, Jerusalem.
