AN ISLAMIC TERRACOTTA OIL LAMP WITH CHRISTIAN ICONOGRAPHY

This mold-made, pear shaped, lamp sits on a ring base with a small conical handle. The shoulders are decorated with repeating bands of geometric designs leading to a raised rim around the fill hole. A central channel runs from fill hole to nozzle and includes a double-horned cross. This inclusion suggests that while made in the prevailing style of the period it was intended for a Christian clientele.
In excellent condition with natural patina present.
