Carved from a solid piece of alabaster, this jar once contained someone's ointments or other medicaments, a very precious and necessary commodity in the ancient world. This example is composed of a squat piriform body and a wide everted rim outside a central depression leading to the mouth of the vessel, although they can be found in a variety of forms.
Found in Bethlehem.
In very good condition. Minor chips to rim of jar.
